Design Poul Cadovius

Poul Cadovius was a Danish furniture designer and inventor of the patented and registered trademark Abstracta System│Design Poul Cadovius ®. Successful in many countries from the 1960´s until today.

 

Poul Cadovius (1911-2011) was one of the most colorful and successful persons in the history of Danish furniture industry. He was originally educated as an upholsterer, but became very interested in design at an early stage, and in 1945 he established his own furniture manufacturing company Royal System.

He was also chairman of the CADO Center A/S, Cadomus A/S, France & Son A/S, Royal System A/S, Abstracta System A/S, as well as member of the boards of associated and sister companies in Sweden, Germany, Austria, Norway, Spain, UK, USA, and France (La Boutique Danoise). He belonged to the same generation as many other famous Danish designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Piet Hein, Ole Wanscher, Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Børge Mogensen, and more. All important contributors to the now classic furniture fashion called Danish Modern.

All his life Poul Cadovius was an exceptional entrepreneur and innovator, and he achieved to take more than 400 patents during his long career. He was indeed a man of the world and a king of furniture.
